I completed an academic internship under the guidance of a Kellogg faculty member investigating the omni-channel strategy of a niche backcountry ski apparel brand, TREW. I evaluated brand, operational, and financial considerations to present a channel recommendation that would increase total company sales by +40% in Y1. This was a chance to combine my personal passion (backcountry skiing) and professional interests (consumer) and get knee deep in the outdoor industry.

As the Vendor Manager and then Senior Vendor Manager, I was chosen to work on a very small but mighty team building and growing a new category. It was invaluable experience wearing countless hats: owning a P&L, building relationships with top companies and their executive teams to help them define, execute and optimize their ecommerce strategy, commercializing new products, building a private label brand, defining a best-in-class customer experience, learning the ins and outs of operations and services, and leading complex negotiations. My personal highlight? Launching and then scaling Kenmore, Sears' storied private label brand, on our site. Seeing the 5 months of hard work of our teams and the 10+ cross-functional teams featured on the front cover of the Wall Street Journal might just be the coolest thing.

I oversaw three brands and licensors with responsibility for vendor management, purchasing, cost negotiations, and marketing but my favorite experience was the projects. I served as the lead marketer for the launch of the storied American Girl brand on Amazon, marking the first time they sold outside their own stores. I built the first ever 'Toy of the Year' event on Amazon in partnership with the Toy Industry Association. I ran the Amazon Toys & Games FB page (growing it to 100K fans!) and spent too many hours coming up with punny Facebook posts and silly giveaways.
