The Control and Adaptive Behavior Lab investigates the neuro-cognitive processes that underpin adaptive behaviors and self-regulatory control. We study decision-making across various behaviors, examining their underlying cognitive processes such as reward processing, executive functioning, self-regulation, and working memory. I will be working on Project LITe which studies the Long Term Impact of Technonlogy

I serve as an empathetic ear, support system, and a safe place for advice & practical strategies, as well as simply a friend to lean on. The program offers valuable academic and real-life experiences to students with intellectual disabilities, with an aim at providing these students a smooth, comfortable, and enriching college experience. I meet with my mentees as frequently as they’d like, aid them in coursework, and join them in any extracurricular or hobby they’d like to partake in.

My role as a Peer Advisor closely aligns with my passion for helping others. I act as a trustworthy guide to my peers as they navigate their undergraduate studies. I was selected for this position due to my vast knowledge of the undergraduate programs, as well as my in-depth understanding of the many resources offered to Temple students. Additionally, during new student orientations I present to the incoming students on how to register for classes and answer common questions about the transition to college.

As an E-Board member of the Temple University chapter of PERIOD I have dedicated much of my time to advocating for period poverty, as well as to end the stigma surrounding menstruation. Ultimately, we are aiming to make menstruation products as accessible as toilet paper, and affordable to all menstruators.

My dedication and loyalty is exemplified through my commitment to this position for the past four years. Through my years of experience at McDonald’s I have proven my ability to respond to high-pressure situations in a fast paced environment. I have also gained meaningful leadership experience through training new employees and learned the valuable lesson to show compassion and patience to all.

I spent my summer attending professional development sessions, and carrying out research in the field of Cancer Care under the supervision of my mentors Savitri Skandan, MD; Dennis Sopka, MD; and Melissa Kratz, RN. My project was titled “Evaluation of Patients Admitted to the Hospital with Sepsis, Febrile Neutropenia, or Pneumonia Following Administration of Chemotherapy.” At the end of the program, I presented my poster in front of a board of medical professionals, and had it published under Scholarly Works for the Lehigh Valley Health Network. Additionally, I shadowed physicians and participated in a variety of medical practices, ranging from general patient care to participating in cadaver labs. This incredible opportunity allowed me to network and provided me with many necessary skills to further reach my goal of one day becoming a neurologist.
