Worked with the latent fingerprints unit in helping to organizing files and sending Automated Fingerprint Identification System hit memos. Shadowed in three different units of the lab: latent, DNA, and drug chemistry. Learned the processes of DNA collection, various fingerprint collection techniques including powder, superglue fuming and ninhydrin, and drug testing techniques including preliminary chemical testing and GC/MS testing.

Worked with Engineering Professor and PhD candidate in the creation of multiple computer models of how different anti-microbial molecules interacted with the outer protein coat of the Zika virus. Analyzed the binding sites of the molecules and the virus protein coat using Autodock Vina. Tracked the behavior of molecules and Zika coat segment over time using Amber MD. Learned computer programming skills and more about research in general as well as the chemical and biological interactions between two different substances.
