About Abigail Mitchell

I’m a London-born writer, editor, and cultural historian. I am currently a postgraduate researcher in English at the University of Southampton. My PhD project focuses on the use of creative practice to explore the history of the Essex witch trials through the lens of queer theory.I have six years of experience in publishing, specializing in adult illustrated reference titles on history and culture. My skills include editing, writing, project management, and ideas/development work. I have worked for DK as both a freelancer and in house. As a freelancer, I have written and edited for publishers including Scholastic and Encyclopedia Britannica.I am also a creative writer and poet. My debut poetry collection, The Year of the Butterfly, is out on Nov 3, 2023 with Write Bloody UK.
