Under the direction of Dr. McGuire, I managed the startup of the McGuire Lab in July of 2017. Our research focused on developing vaccines for HIV and EBV through B cell studies. Utilizing a variety of procedures, I developed methods for making and testing antibodies to be used in vaccination campaigns. As laboratory manager I was responsible for coordinating testing procedures, developing a system for ordering and maintaining our laboratory inventory, and managing and developing a database for our in-house made products. -Managed experiments run with our mouse colony, from the coordination of experimental timelines and resource allocation to the experimental implementation, that allowed for publication in multiple journals (1, 2)-Implemented experimental projects, I collected and analyzed data which allowed us to publish novel research about generating broadly neutralizing antibodies against HIV (2)

I managed the startup of multiplex fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Close. Using different methods in fluorescence imaging, we developed a method for FISH that would help identify cell morphology and corresponding gene expression in human cortical tissue. - Coordinated the setup for processing tissues using FISH, I implemented a system for collecting neuronal tissue, processing, and analyzing the tissue that contributed to discovering the novel Rose Hip neuron cell type- Managed analysis and data assessment to develop more robust methods for data collection

The focus of the in vitro Cell Types group was to validate a working protocol to develop neuronal subtypes from embryonic stem cells. With the supervision of Dr. Close, I coordinated resource acquisition across groups, I developed and validated a working protocol for the creation of cortical interneuron subtypes, and I implemented standards for data analysis. - Researched and implemented methods for generating interneuron subtypes which allowed us to create a robust, reliable, and publishable protocol- Presented findings in lab meetings and provided conductive commentary
