Share the Health is a free women's health clinic based in the Madison area. We treat patients who are unable to access genealogical specialty care because of a lack of insurance. As a public health intern, I gathered data about cervical cancer rates, gaps in cervical cancer treatment coverage, and generated an argument for why all women should be covered for cervical cancer screening, biopsies, and related outpatient procedures, regardless of their insurance status. As a Community Health Intern, my main project was assisting with Sauk County's Community Health Needs Assessment for 2015. I was directly responsible for responsible for gathering secondary data, creating an online health survey, facilitating focus groups in the community, and organizing a key informants meeting. I worked with the three local hospitals, various clinics, school districts, fire/police departments, EMS, etc. to collect this data. After all data was collected and analyzed, I wrote a document summarizing the findings and identifying the top health priorities Sauk County will focus on moving forward.

I worked alongside Dr. Hubbard and another TA to find relevant news articles, videos, etc. to share with the class. Additionally, I wrote and graded exams.

I worked in the memory care unit of Oak Park Place - Middleton. I provided daily cares for the residents and strived to improve their quality of life as much as possible. I was incredibly humbled by this experience, and I gained a tremendous amount of patience and respect for all the medical personnel and residents I worked with.
