Updated and maintained a computerized database of all music in the band program: marching band, wind ensemble, jazz band, and chamber ensembles. Copied, organized, and maintained music and folders for student musicians ensuring all program members had what they needed to be successful in both rehearsal and performance. Also served as assistant to the director of bands organizing scores, proofreading documents, organizing the office, and helping plan music department events. I became the student organizer and supervisor of the annual High School Honor Band, which brought in over 100 musicians three years in a row while under my supervision. This event grew to be the largest recruiting event on campus. Since my graduation, this event has yet to meet the same numbers it did while under my charge, which is a testament to my dedication and organization in running the program.
Founder & Walk Chairperson Of The Olivet College Out Of The Darkness Campus Walk
The planning process for our first walk began in September of 2017. We set a $5,000 fundraising goal and nearly doubled it, almost raising $10,000 with approximately 150 people in attendance. With our second walk, which took place in the spring of 2019, we set a $10,000 fundraising goal, and once again we exceeded this goal, almost raising $12,000 having almost 300 people in attendance. The 2020 walk had to be moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we were able to host a successful virtual event and raise over $10,000. In total, we raised over $30,000 in three short years. To date as of 2023, the walk has now raised close to $55,000 but since my graduation these walks have not reached near the success they did under my charge. The money we raised allowed Olivet College to implement much needed mental health resources for students. Besides fundraising, the overall goal of these walks is to raise awareness on mental health and suicide prevention and to let students know that they're not alone, and there are resources for help. We spread a message of hope with these walks.Since our first walk in 2018, our Provost/Dean created a student mental health task force, a task force on which I had the privilege of serving. This committee met biweekly to discuss the mental health climate of students on campus and the resources we needed to implement moving forward. Task in planning this walk included:-Communicating with the AFSP Michigan Area Director as well as the AFSP national office-Marketing the event across campus and on social media-Reaching out to potential sponsors and donors-Fundraising-Organizing, coordinating, and communicating with volunteers-Communicating with the college's Board of Trustees -Developing a safe route for walkers-Coordinating speakers-Ordering materials-Coordinating various groups on campus (band, Greek life, athletes etc.)-Setting up for the event
Management Intern
I had the opportunity to spend the summer on a management internship in the beautiful, quaint little town of Northport, Michigan located in the Leelanau Peninsula. Most of the internship was spent at the Tom's Food Market in Northport learning the ins and outs of the grocery industry. Myself along with two other interns spent the summer learning about stocking, ordering and delivering products, marketing, promotion, customer service, human resources, advertising, and managing various departments across the grocery industry.
