I have worked in a laboratory setting for four years at Lipscomb University and Vanderbilt University. At Lipscomb, I work under Dr. Joshua Owens in his cancer research lab elucidating the effects of fat metabolism inhibition on breast cancer. Specifically, I investigate the migratory effects of cancer cells. In the summer of 2024, I am participating in the NSF REU Biological Chemistry Program at Vanderbilt University. I work under Dr. Allison Walker, investigating elicitor regulator pairs in hopes of novel secondary metabolites discovery. My project involves biosynthetic gene clusters found in Streptomyces. I have experience in cell, molecular, and microbiology laboratory techniques and public speaking. I have given two presentations regarding my work at Lipscomb University and will be presenting my Vanderbilt research at the end of the summer. Further, I received my first grant in 2023 from Beta Beta Beta National Honor Society to continue my independent project under Dr. Owens at Lipscomb University.
