I help technology companies in the energy and environment industry as they invest into research and development to develop products, get early sales and scale. Typical roles include developing and assessing commercial road maps, developing and implementing funding plans, securing pilot customers, providing operational support as companies scale, and managing the delivery of key projects. Previous and current clients include Glaciem Cooling, SAGE Automation, Dynamic Limits, Triple HK (Germany), the University of Adelaide, and the University of South Australia.

This $3.1 million energy storage project will deploy a mobile, utility-scale storage system (360kw/360kwh) and establish a test facility for small scale (<200kw) energy storage technologies, publishing the test data on an on-line ‘knowledge bank’.Responsibilities and achievements include:• Responsibility for managing the delivery of the mobile energy storage system, including the development of the bespoke control system;• Full responsibility for managing stakeholder relations both internally (e.g. across engineering schools and other University departments) and externally among project partners (including SA Power Network, ZEN Energy, SA Department of State Development, and ARENA), suppliers, and community stakeholders (e.g. councils where trials will take place);• Responsibility for the $3.1 million budget and associated financial reporting;• Develop relationships with energy industry stakeholders to share data and develop future research programs and projects involving the deployment of storage systems on network, off-grid, and behind the meter;

I was responsible for building research partnerships (from cold calling through to milestone achievement and invoicing) and driving the commercialisation of new technologies. Key successes and responsibilities included:• Leading the successful negotiation of more than $2.5 million in collaborative research contracts and licencing deals in 6 months, almost double the average across the company ($2.6 million annually);• Delivery of milestones on collaborative research projects, liaising between partner companies and researchers as required;• Assessing and commercialising a range of technologies and capabilities in fields and industries including power generation, power transmission, renewable energy, energy management and big data analytics.

Responsibilities included:• Building strategic relationships with competitors and other stakeholders to enable product benchmarking, joint product testing, collaboration, and expertise sharing;• Ad hoc project management including process improvement initiatives, board reporting, and the implementation of a company-wide CRM systems;• Working together with the CEO / Managing Partner to prepare for and close an external financing round;• Managing the commercialization of a new product patent;

Reporting directly to the CEO, responsibilities and achievements included:• Managing the timely recruitment of 15 employees in line with the company’s growth plan, including the negotiation of ca. 600,000€ of salaries;• Modelling the investment decision into CCT’s first industrial factory.• Customer development, sales pipeline reporting, and optimisation.• The development of a market entry strategy for Australia/Asia Pacific and South Africa.
