The UASU is a dynamic and student-led organization dedicated to empowering the undergraduate student community at the University of Alberta. We strive to provide exceptional support and representation to over 35,000 undergraduate students. We work tirelessly to enhance the student experience and ensure their voices are heard, fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus environment.As President, I was the primary spokesperson on behalf of all undergraduate students, and led advocacy efforts to all levels of government and university stakeholders to ensure student priorities were met.

As VP Academic, I was the primary spokesperson regarding all academic advocacy issues and was responsible for developing and maintaining awareness of the concerns that have an impact on the student experience. I was a sitting member on various University Governance committees and workd closely with University administration and key stakeholders in the post-secondary space. Committee appointments included university senior academic bodies and internal Students' Union committees.

As a Councillor, I provided strategic advice and input to the Students' Union Council on different matters affecting my constituency in Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. Topic discussed ranged from fiscal to social policies, student experience, and consulting with students to get their opinions on these issues. Through this work, I served as Chair of the Students' Union Policy committee, where I developed competencies surrounding policy development, effective governance, and non-partisanship.

The Kinesiology Games is the largest student-run undergraduate Kinesiology conference in Canada. With 500+ attendees spanning kinesiology programs across the country, the conference aims to create an inclusive and accessible environment that thrives on student diversity, promotes student health and well-being, and fosters meaningful peer-to-peer connections within the field of Kinesiology.As Head Academic Coordinator, I led planning, coordination, and implementation of all academic events and competitions at the conference.

University of Alberta Kinesiology Games is dedicated to provide social, athletic, and academic outlets for kinesiology students and help them network with other kinesiology students across the country. For someone interested in getting involved with Kinesiology Games, this it is an opportunity to build friendships and networks at the University of Alberta and across Canada, and to put all of your knowledge in the field of kinesiology into practice.As President, I created and empowered colleagues and team members throughout conference to establish a cohesive and collaborative working environment, lead planning, coordination and implementation of various events, trips, and fundraisers, and liaised with university stakeholders to ensure adequate resources and support for the team to succeed.

As president of the Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation Student Society Abner utilized his leadership and advocacy skills to liaise with the faculty dean and other key executive faculty members in order to promote the well-being of his constituents and create a dialogue on potential concerns facing students. Additionally, he sat on the faculty executive council and faculty council for KSR. Furthermore, through this position Abner spearheaded notable changes, including the restructuring of the composition of the KSRSS which proved to be successful long-term. Through this role, he led the organization of key events and services provided to students within the faculty of kinesiology, including, the retreat hosted for new students entering into the faculty - ranging from 80 to 150 students.
