I am a professionally trained physiotherapist with a specialization in musculoskeletal disorders. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Hasselt. In addition to my academic pursuits, I am actively engaged in courses on Functioning and Rehabilitation of Musculoskeletal Disorders.My doctoral project and research interest are focused on phenotyping individuals with hip osteoarthritis and exploring prognostic factors for outcomes after total hip arthroplasty in a biopsychosocial framework. I conduct detailed analyses of factors such as pain-related fear-avoidance behaviour and employ thermal quantitative sensory testing (QST) to measure pain experience in individuals with hip osteoarthritis. Additionally, I investigate the influence of psychological factors, including the history of psychological trauma and other distressing experiences, as well as the effects of pre- to post-operative rehabilitation after total hip arthroplasty.My clinical interest lies in diagnosing and treating acute and chronic hip and groin pain. Furthermore, I am genuinely passionate about enhancing clinical practices related to hip disorders. My expertise in physiotherapy for musculoskeletal disorders, combined with my commitment to scientific research, drives me to translate my findings into effective treatment methods and interventions. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for patients suffering from hip osteoarthritis.
