I am a Cyber Security Engineer, committed to thwarting today’s ever present and evolving cyber threats. The genesis of my passion for all things security was during my service in the United States Marine Corps. As a Field Radio Operator, I installed and encrypted sensitive communications and global positioning systems in training and hostile, fast paced environments, resulting in zero loss of data. Additionally, I managed IT governance within these environments, creating effective policies to manage physical vulnerabilities in combat operations centers, supervising over 100 personnel in the enforcement thereof. Upon honorable discharge from the military and transition to the private sector, I first interned at Georgia Power Corporate and subsequently at the American Cancer Society. I was entrusted with assisting client’s ever dynamic hardware and software problems, achieving full operational efficiency without compromising security. In addition, I was responsible for creating and amending IT security policy ranging from Cyber Incident response procedure creation in the event of a catastrophic attack to PCI and HIPAA compliant business associate contracts, all while maintaining accordance to aforementioned standards. To increase my knowledge and commitment to Cyber Security, I attained the CompTIA Security+ certification, thus realizing a crucial development in my journey as a Security professional. I graduated with a degree in Information Technology-Security Concentration and subsequently began a position as a Cyber Security Analyst with DefenseStorm. There, I am part of the TRAC (Threat-Ready Active Compliance) team, committed to investigating and responding to security events in support of financial institutions, thus protecting client fiscal resources from the abundance of domestic and world-wide threats.Since the inception of my employment at DefenseStorm in 2019, I have elevated quickly within the ranks, being first promoted to Cyber Security Analyst II in September, and subsequently to Cyber Security Engineer in December. A bevy of the responsibilities I was tasked with predated my official promotions. Tasks such such as college intern training of basic students with rudimentary knowledge of IT to full fledged Security Analysts, which were subsequently hired internally post graduation. I was also responsible with policy prescriptions detailing Personal Identifiable information and Operating instructions with third party companies that supplement DefenseStorm operations, resulting in zero leakage of data and increased cooperative efficiency.
