I worked majorly on developing a Benefit Realisation Management (BRM) Framework to capture intrinsic value in various projects. The developed BRM framework was targeted at building strong investment cases and enabling strategic prioritisation of projects within the portfolio.Key highlights:1. Project Benefit Case development: Prepare Benefit Cases to derive financial Impact of various projects to feed into Group PMO Project Portfolio Prioritisation Matrix.2. Project Value Realisation Model: Capture financial as well as non-financial value in different projects, determine investment objectives, outcomes, project deliverables, success criteria and indicators to track value realisations, accounting and economic break-evens and rate of return in various projects. 3. Risk/Opportunities analysis: Majorly Scenario analyses and Sensitivity analyses to draw insights on financial impact of project delays, changes in project scope, capital allocation model etc. Also help draw insights on scalability, growth and resource management. 4. Project Governance: Build value driven phase-gates, gate requirements, and governance model for de-risking and maturing initiatives in the project portfolio.

I worked at the Nuclear Projects Safety Division at AERB, India's regulatory body authorising use of nuclear energy.Key highlights:1. Licensing of NPPs: Design review of Nuclear Reactors, especially Sodium Cooled Fast Reactors (SFR). Evaluation of defence-in-depth, single failure criteria, fail-safe design, accident progressions, design basis events, design extension conditions, reactor safe states, acceptance criteria, deterministic and probabilistic safety assessments.2. PFBR Commissioning Review: Phase-wise commissioning of the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor, including preheating trials, sodium filling, initial fuel loading, first approach to criticality, low power physics experiments, and power ascension from 0 to 500 MWe. Served as Member Secretary to AERB’s Expert Review Group on PFBR commissioning.3. Troubleshooting non-conformances, failures and malfunctions: Problem solving and coordinating expert review of plant failures, root causes and corrective actions. Some of the plant failures that I worked on were, jamming of remotely operated fuel handling machineries, high resistances in in-core fuel handling, sodium pump failures, high vibrations in electro-magnetic pumps. Served as Member Secretary to the Expert Group on review of high resistances in-core fuel handling. Problem solving involved a deeper analysis of geometric tolerance stack-up, kinematics, force balance, friction, failure patterns, fracture mechanics, hardness and deformation of mating surfaces etc.4. National codes and guidance documents on nuclear safety: Drafted first detailed commissioning guidance for SFR based NPPs, now under publication. Served as Member Secretary on the drafting committee.5. Regulatory oversight of NPPs, focusing on mechanical maintenance, plant commissioning, QA, plant management, and industrial safety.Lately, pivoted towards licensing approaches for advanced Small Modular Reactors (SMR). Served as Member Secretary on Division’s Task Force on SMRs.

I was deputed by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board to work full-time at Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor, Kalpakkam (PFBR) to gain hands-on field experience in Nuclear Power Plants. PFBR is a 500 MW(e) Sodium Cooled Fast Reactor based Nuclear Power Plant which was under Commissioning Phase then. I worked at PFBR for more than a year as a Field Engineer in Commissioning Activities under Operation & Maintenance Division.Major highlights of my work at PFBR are as follows:(1). Commissioning of Sodium Heat Transport Circuits, in particular Safety Grade Decay Heat Removal Circuits (SG-DHR). I worked on functional performance testing of SG-DHR Sodium Heat Transport Circuits as per the approved Commissioning Procedures, verification of design intent, Circuit Sequential Pre-heating trials, identification and regularisation of deficiencies in the heat transport circuits, Preparation of Operating Procedures, Checklists, Calibration Charts and System Commissioning Test Reports. Also worked on commissioning of support systems such as Sodium Purification Circuits.(2). Commissioning of Fuel Handling Systems. I worked on testing of in-core and ex-core fuel handling machineries and components. Majorly worked on rectification plans of the fuel handling machineries that indicated deviations during commissioning activities.(3). Lead the commissioning activities and subsequent round the clock operations of Secondary Sodium Pump Rotor Assembly - Sodium Removal Facility. This facility was set-up to remove residual sodium from sodium wetted heavy machineries such as Secondary Sodium Pumps, for their breakdown maintenance and rectification.(4). O&M of Plant Utilities such as Safety Related Service Water System, Demineralised Water Plant, Argon Cover Gas supply and distribution, etc. (5). Completed Plant Electrical Authorisation for handling plant electrical equipment and Green Dot Qualification for Radiation Protection.

I worked majorly on project development for setting-up large-scale production plants and assembly facilities for manufacturing high speed machines. Key highlights of my work were; (1). Project Technical Design Basis Development and Project Estimation: Technical due diligence; input collection from prototypes; requirements analysis; establishing project objectives, outcomes, deliverables and boundaries; preparing technical specifications and blueprinting plants and facilities. (2). Project Scoping: Production capacity planning; sizing facilities, equipment and machineries in the plants; finalising plant layout & workflow; preparing manufacturing quality plans, and budget estimations.(3). Detailed Project Planning: Establishing project schedule, long delivery items, critical path activities and dependencies; preparing work breakdown structures; engaging with engineering services consultants and vendors for project finalisation; requirements and resource management, stakeholder mapping, vendor evaluation & development.(4). Project Execution: Techno-commercial tender preparation, stakeholder engagement and management, monitoring and reporting of project progress, deliverables and capital expenses.(5). Other activities: Procurement management, quality assurance of the components, pre-dispatch inspections, mechanical analysis, testing and condition monitoring of high-speed machineries etc.
