About Jack Chin

Jack believes in the power of groups, drawing upon stakeholders' unique perspectives and strengths to collectively design and implement better solutions. He has applied this approach in the field of philanthropy since 1991, initially as a program fellow at The San Francisco Foundation, as a consultant for Arabella Advisors and Blueprint Research + Design, and now at Learning for Action. Jack has worked alongside colleagues and clients on numerous program strategy development, evaluation planning, formative evaluation, and collaborative learning projects. These projects include evaluating the impacts of the Knight News Challenge media innovation contest; assessing policy and advocacy grant making by the California Community Foundation; developing a strategy in community philanthropy for Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy; designing and implementing a peer review grant-making process for the Stewardship Council; designing monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks for the Packard Foundation; and conducting a comparative analysis of foundation-sponsored learning communities. He has served on the management committee of the Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA) and planned sessions for Association of Small Foundations, the Council on Foundations, EGA, and Grantmakers for Education conferences.
