The Kootenay Cannabis Economic Development Council was formed in 2020 and represents diverse actors in the Kootenay region who have a role in the cannabis sector. Monthly meetings of the Council fosters a deeper understanding of the needs and opportunities for the sector. From this foundation, we formulate and advance policy and program proposals that will.

Was a member of the team with Upland Consulting and Farm Food Drink that researched andwrote the Agriculture Innovation Project Feasibility Study

Co-ordinated national network focused on strengthening local and regional food systems with aninterest in larger structural change, proactively incorporated initiatives on sustainable fisheries.Served as sustainable food systems specialist on staff.

Analyzed the needs and possibilities in the meat systems of two Regional Districts in BC.Worked with local government, processors, farmers, buyers and others involved in the meatsector to improve the current and long term viability of the sector.

Help Desk Field Staff & waste regulatory expert: worked with abattoir proponents to meet thenew BC Meat Inspection Regulation requirements for licensing, including all aspects ofenvironmental, land use, waste disposal, and construction authorizations across Ministries andvarious levels of government. Provided research, regulatory advice and educational.

Undertook extensive community consultations; researched, drafted, circulated to thecommunities for feedback, and submitted an Agricultural Plan for the entire Region thatcombined a more traditional plan for the region’s agricultural sector with the goal of fostering asecure food supply for its residents.
