Dr. Abraham Lieberman, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT is a Fellowship-trained, Doctor of Physical Therapy licensed in the State of Texas. There are approximately 1500 fellowship-trained physical therapists in the United States of America, and only a very small number of clinicians who specialize in Orthopedics and Neurology as does Dr. Lieberman. Dr. Lieberman has lectured at a variety of institutions on the topics of rehabilitation, including at MD Anderson, and remains a national expert and consultant for complex multidisciplinary spinal and pelvic reconstruction rehabilitation, as well as pediatric and adult cervical torticollis.Dr. Lieberman earned his undergraduate degrees at College of Staten Island, and his doctorate degree at Touro College in NYC. After moving to Houston in 2009, Abraham joined the Neurological outpatient rehabilitation team at TIRR (MemorialHermann). While at TIRR, Abraham treated patients with a variety of neurological conditions including, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Amputees, progressive diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and acquired conditions such as Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis. In addition to treating patients with typical neurological disorders, Abraham began to become recognized for his ability to treat complex patients with post-traumatic injuries. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center began to refer patients directly to Abraham within the TIRR system to treat patients from the Neurosurgery department, and within a few years, Abraham was asked to develop a rehabilitation protocol for patients status-post Total Sacrectomies. It came with great honor to be invited by the rehabilitation department to deliver Surgical Grand-Rounds at MD Anderson in 2011, and within a year, Abraham opened his private practice to provide the highly specialized rehabilitation program to patients from all over the world. Abraham has worked at a number of facilities in the Greater-Houston area, including MemorialHermann Sports Medicine and Rehab, TIRR MemorialHermann, Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Therapy (Speech) Connections, RehabCare and STAMBUSH where he worked as a contract PT for numerous hospitals and private PT facilities. Using his experience at each of these facilities and rehab settings, Abraham applied all the things that “work” and eliminated those that didn’t, and within his first year of practicing in the private setting, Abraham received requests from physicians and patients alike to extend his treatment style to the typical orthopedic patient.
