Improving seed vigour in Brassica napus (oilseed rape.)

I conducted a comprehensive study on gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata), investigating the impact of different diets and fasting periods on spawning performance, maternal egg nutrient composition, and embryo/larval development.- I collected and extracted total fatty acids from various gilthead seabream tissues (gonad, muscle, liver and eggs).- I measured the total caloric content and protein levels in all samples.- Using gas chromatography (GC-MS), I profiled the total fatty acid composition across all tissue samples.- I also troubleshooted, optimised, and developed a protocol for total fatty acid quantification using GC-MS at the HMRC.The results of this research were published in 2021 under the title: ‘Lack of Negative Effects of Fasting of Gilthead Seabream (Sparus aurata) Breeders During the Spawning Period on Maternal and Egg Nutrient Composition, Fertilization Success, and Early Embryo/Larval Development.’

I planned and execute the ethnobotanical study of the Vinalopo region under the supervision of Dr. Segundo Ríos Ruiz at the department of environmental sciences and natural resources at the University of Alicante. - Conducted in-person interviews and statistical surveys with local residents, schools, and high schools in the region.- Collaborated with key community members to gather valuable information on regional plant species.- Performed precise in-situ plant identification, collecting samples and data from over 500 plant species.- Analyzed statistical data.- Synthesized findings and effectively communicated results to supervisors and examiners.This research culminated in a poster presentation at the VI International Ethnobotany Congress in Cordoba (ICEB - 2014), titled ‘Aproximación Etnobotánica de la Comarca Alicantina del Medio-Alto Vinalopó’

I had the privilege of being part of a dynamic team at the semi-volatile laboratory in Labaqua, Alicante. My primary responsibilities included meticulously organising and managing daily sample arrivals. Subsequently, I conducted sample preparation, extraction, and precise quantification of key compounds using advanced techniques such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS-MS) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Additionally, I played a crucial role in maintaining and preparing reagents and solutions essential for daily laboratory operations.

Senegal

I had the privilege of being part of the inaugural team at the Dindéfélo Biological Station (Kédougou, Senegal) in July 2013. Our work focused on sustainable local agriculture, reforestation efforts, wildlife ecological monitoring, and chimpanzee conservation at the surrounding jungle areas of the station. Notably, we laid the groundwork for future educational programs at the station before its official inauguration by Dr. Jane Goodall in February 2014.
