Abra Kurt is the Development Director for Britepaths, leading organizational fundraising and event planning and directing external communications strategy and execution.Prior to joining Britepaths, Abra operated her own development and communications consulting practice. She has also served as the Chief Development + Communications Officer at Community Family Life Services, a nonprofit organization specializing in comprehensive women’s reentry services, and led Mid-Atlantic headquarters market corporate social responsibility communications for Capital One. Earlier in her career, Abra was senior associate at Park & Associates, a boutique public relations firm based in Washington, DC, where her client portfolio included the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, Matthew Shepard Foundation, World Wildlife Fund, and Voto Latino. As an adjunct professor, Abra taught Media Relations and Messaging courses in the PR and Corporate Communications department of Georgetown University’s Master of Professional Studies Program.During her career, Abra has spearheaded dozens of local, regional, and national campaigns, and raised millions of dollars and global awareness for a diverse range of organizations, programs, and issues. Her full-spectrum communications work focused on developing messaging and branding strategies; producing dynamic events, from red carpet galas in L.A. to receptions on Capitol Hill and magazine and product launches in New York; directing media outreach and organizing press conferences; and creating and editing content for websites, newsletters, and print and broadcast ads.Committed to giving back, Abra has served on several Boards of Directors, including Animal Charities of America and Calvary Women’s Services, a DC-based organization providing housing, health, education, and employment programs that empower homeless women to change their lives. She was also appointed to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s ACTION! Advisory Board, working to diversify the business side of the entertainment industry. Abra currently resides in Loudoun County, Virginia, with her husband, award-winning singer-songwriter and recording artist Scott Kurt, and their family of adorable rescue kitties.
