I am a music educator and professional musician, playing trombone locally with the Omaha Symphonic Winds and Iowa Western Community Band. I also substitute for the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra on bass trombone. Along with participating in these ensembles, I give private music instruction to twenty-plus students during the academic school year and volunteer regularly with the Omaha Performing Arts. I am a huge advocate of integrating technology with music education. The iPad, flip camera, and interactive whiteboard are all tools I use in my classroom. They provide opportunities for individualized instruction and experimental learning. They also support a variety of different needs and abilities and allow students to have control over their own learning.
