Daniel Paiva is a graduate in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Riode Janeiro (UFRRJ). He subsequently undertook a Residency Program in VeterinaryMicrobiology Diagnostic, specializing in bacteriological and mycological diagnosis,surveillance of bacterial resistance, and antimicrobial stewardship at the VeterinaryHospital-UFRRJ. Research on the high animal sporotrichosis occurrence led to amasters degree on the phenotypical and molecular characterization of Sporothrixschenckii complex isolates collected and maintained on the diagnostic service, and theantifungal susceptibility profile of those samples. He is currently completing a Ph.D. onthe development of molecular methodologies for the identification of Amblyomma ticks(an important vector in Brazil) and correlated tick-borne diseases.Daniel Paiva has experience in small animals veterinary practice, veterinarymicrobiology diagnosis and molecular biology, with special interest in infectiousdisease, and in the undissociated relationship between human, animal, andenvironmental health (represented by the One Health concept).
