I am currently leading a small User Experience research team at Google with the goal to build the most accurate, complete, fresh, and rich model of the world. In this capacity, I plan, prioritise, oversee, and sometimes conduct research studies to improve our understanding and mapped representation of the real world (places, roads, building geometry, business information etc.).Between 2021 and 2022, I established and led the User Experience Research practice at Sidewalk Labs across 5 product teams and an incubations team, with the goal to imagine better cities by making them more environmentally sustainable and affordable for all. Prior to this, I had spent 8 years at Google, where I led UX research projects for Cloud, Maps, and internal engineering tools, after having led and grown technical operations teams for Google Shopping. For a period of six months, I also received a full-time research fellowship to develop a machine learning application to fight antibiotic resistance for Médecins Sans Frontières. I was brought up in the Austrian Alps, and hold a MA in Philosophy from the University of Vienna and a MSc in International Economics from CEMS. I live in Brooklyn, NY with my wife and tiny cat where I spend my days exploring different neighborhoods and daydreaming about building a skiing hut.
