Alfred Shikany is a member of the Litigation Department and Insurance Practice Group. He has counseled clients through a variety of insurance and coverage related matters, including assisting a freight transportation company in a complex matter related to the company’s insurers’ obligations under federally mandated MCS-90 endorsements. In that matter, he responded to multiple declaratory judgment actions in multiple states before negotiating a favorable settlement that saved the client from entering into costly litigation. Alfred also recently represented a fixed base operator (FBO) in a negligence case, receiving summary judgment based in part on analysis of FAA grant assurances and the liabilities and duties arising from the receipt of federal funds. Prior to joining the firm, Alfred worked at the Franklin County Municipal Court in Columbus, Ohio, and was a mediator in the Franklin County Small Claims Court. Earlier in his career, Alfred worked with FCC regulators and USAID Washington to promote the growth of information and communication technology in developing countries. He is a lifelong Cincinnati resident and brings a hometown passion and knowledge to representing clients in the region.

As an intern, I helped to maintain the mediation program for the Franklin County Small Claims Court. Duties included: conducting mediations, maintaining online database of case settlements, scheduling mediations, and intake of claims.

The United States Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI) is a non-profit public-private partnership between senior federal officials and leaders of the U.S. information and communication technology (ICT) and broadcast industries. The goal of this collaborative effort is to share the United States' technological and managerial advances with women and men who regulate and maintain the IT and communications infrastructures throughout the developing world. The USTTI's comprehensive array of intensive tuition-free training courses are made possible by the support of federal and private board members, as well as hundreds of volunteer trainers across the country.

Assistant to Men's Lightweight Head Coach, Evans Liolin. Responsibilities included recruiting the class of 2012 and coaching the Men's Lightweight Freshman Class of 2011. I was proud to coach the freshman class to a silver medal finish at Eastern Sprints, making them the only Georgetown men's freshman crew to ever medal at the regatta.
