I'm Andrew, a social entrepreneur with one driving goal: unleashing the vast potential within rural communities. My energy is laser-focused on one thing – activating the untapped entrepreneurial talent across rural Canada and the US and sparking the dormant potential into dynamic action.My professional path is marked by 15 years dedicated to rural business and economic innovation. In 2014, I founded Mashup Lab to serve as a catalyst for community-driven business ideas. This led to co-founding Awesome South Shore, where we put our trust in local ingenuity by giving $1,000 each month to fund someone's awesome idea with no strings attached.To fill a critical gap in community support, I rolled out WorkEvolved, co-working spaces designed for the independent spirit of freelancers and entrepreneurs in the south shore. It's more than shared desks; it's a shared vision for success.In my career, I've worked shoulder-to-shoulder with close to 3,000 entrepreneurs, from single-person startups to tech innovators and larger operations. Sharing what I've learned, I've had the honor of speaking at key conferences, helping others kindle the entrepreneurial spirit within.My commitment to growth is matched by my academic credentials—an MBA with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Management Consulting from Saint Mary’s University, and a BBA with expertise in Marketing and Finance from Acadia University. Recognition of my efforts came when I was chosen among over 400 nominations as one of the Top 30 High-Growth Entrepreneurs in Atlantic Canada by the Wallace McCain Institute and named as an emerging leader for the 21st century by 21inc.Rooted in my Newfoundland origins and now calling Nova Scotia home with my wife and two boys, I'm here to prove that rural communities are rich with opportunity.
