What can I say, I'm a people-person. I love 'em. I've always valued my community be it in school, work, my neighborhood, my friends, my fellow farming and herbalist community, my neighbors. I thrive when the people around me thrive. I love to encourage and bolster others up. It comes naturally to me. It feeds me. True extrovert I guess. That being said, I have found myself again and again in leadership positions and community support positions throughout my life. I've done community organizing from a young age as a youth activist in high school and college surrounding social justice issues such as the war on drugs, media literacy, and violence against women prevention. I co-founded a small tech cafe and collective in my early twenties called Slash Root in an eclectic college town, New Paltz, NY. It was a fair-trade, organic coffee shop serving beverages as well as open-source technology resources, classes, computer repair (switching users to Linux often fixing lots of problems) and web design. We were a radical hub for music, art, meetings and sharing of knowledge, healing and laughter and brought together many different people with different interests. Then I moved on to a collectively run herb farm with 7other young farmers called Tweefontein. We sold our hand made and home-grown herbal products at the Union Square and Jackson Heights markets in NYC weekly. We were also a hub for learning, music, celebrations, and I learned a lot more about running a collectively-owned business there in my roles as educational coordinator and eventually farm manager. I've always balanced my work with travel in the off season. In 2016 I started roaming full time in my mini school bus as the Traveling Herb Farmer making my own herbal product line and serving up tea and first aid along my way. I sought out communities every where I went and observed farming communities, long standing back to the land movement communities, collective businesses, punk houses, Rainbow gatherings, Burning Man communities and more. Now I've settled down with my love Isaac on a homestead in NY still creating my herbal products and serving my local community with herbs and working part time doing ONLINE community organizing. I work with herbalists, creators, educators, and environmental justice advocates through Maple Creative and Halt the Harm Network. I facilitate engaging online events, meet ups, webinars, and meetings and help manage online communities via Circle and Mighty Networks. My path has been winding, with my love for community being the common thread.
