As a programmer, I am interested in technological tools to enhance our knowledge and improve our communities: applications that empower and enable us to help each other, to learn and grow as individuals and organizations.Before getting into software development I worked as a university instructor, having taught history and government at Wayne State University and Rutgers University. I received my PhD in History from the University of Michigan, specializing in cultural exchange, colonialism, and the history of science. I am particularly interested in the history of human knowledge, the study of our attempts to understand the world and each other, and how our ideas change through migration and cultural exchange. In my free time, I enjoy getting outdoors: backpacking, hiking, running. I love reading and playing German board games. I also volunteer as a writing mentor for 826michigan.org, a nonprofit that is doing great things in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Detroit. I work one-on-one with students to unleash their imaginations while developing their literacy skills and academic confidence.
