This would allow the company to edit the… Show more Though Monash Industry Team Initiative (MITI), a program that bridges the gap between students and industry partners, I was able to intern at the dairy processing company, Fonterra. The project focused on the need to move towards a “net-zero emissions” and hence reduce the reliance on gas at factory sites in Victoria and Tasmania. In a team of multi-disciplinary engineering students, we worked to examine energy consumption and create utility models. This would allow the company to edit the model to determine how certain changes to production would affect energy consumption. Over the internship period of 10 weeks, the team was split into two groups and 3 weeks were spent at either the Victorian or Tasmanian factory sites. I was therefore given the opportunity to travel to Tasmania and analyze two different factory sites, hence becoming more familiar with the dairy process. Show less
