I teach undergraduate, graduate and executive courses, and am the director of the multimedia research group.

I offer consulting services to media-tech companies and law firms in the IP video space. Since early 2017, I have been a technical consultant in the Advanced Technology and Standards Group at Comcast. My prior consulting engagements include MediaMelon Inc., InterDigital, Turkcell and several law firms.

I have also been the head of delegation for the Turkish National Body for ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29 (JPEG and MPEG) since 2017.

I served as a distinguished lecturer elected by the IEEE Communications Society and delivered lectures around the world.

I developed and taught a new graduate course, CS 510: Networked Entertainment.

I was a member of the team responsible for designing architectures and protocols for IP video systems. Due to the multi-platform nature of this position, I acquired in-depth understanding of industry-wide trends and competitive products.In the service provider video space, my focus was on reliable and scalable real-time content delivery for managed and unmanaged networks. Over the years, I worked on various stages of a content delivery chain, including content acquisition, contribution, transport, caching, distribution and consumption. In addition to the design and development, my work also involved mathematical modeling, performance analysis and optimization. The specific product lines I worked on include IPTV, headend, video-on-demand and streaming. I also actively participated in and contributed to the standards development in the field of multimedia systems and services in organizations such as the IETF, MPEG and DASH-IF.Between 2011 and 2014, I co-led a team of seven engineers working on forward-looking ideas in large-scale adaptive media transport. Our team’s charter was to innovate ideas leading to products that would allow Cisco to leapfrog the competition in this space. The project resulted in several innovations, some of which are in shipping products today.I actively engaged in research activities with universities. I developed new traffic models within a system-level simulation platform and ns-2 to enable throughput and delay performance analysis of W-CDMA and CDMA-2000 systems. I evaluated new Qualcomm proposals to improve the RLC protocol for W-CDMA (relative to the RLP for CDMA-2000 and an optimal link-layer protocol).
