Six years as a project manager for Florida Medicaid, with four of those years also in process improvement using the Lean process improvement methodology. My time in this role was an excellent learning opportunity and really helped launched my career. I was able to manage / take lead on multiple projects and process documentation and improvement initiatives, including one which ended with an approximate savings of over $280,000 per year for the Agency.Early on, a favorite project was the initial creation of the Cisco VoIP system for Florida Medicaid's 11 area offices. I was given lead on the business analysis for the project, working directly with Cisco's representatives and content experts within Medicaid. Implementation of the system resulted in a 46.7% increase in the number of calls handled, additional functionality and data capture abilities and they have only gotten better with improvements today. Another favorite project early on was co-management of a team, with a Medicaid content expert, that developed and implemented the strategy for statewide outreach for the Florida Medicaid Reform pilot under Governor Jeb Bush, initiating the transition to managed care for the Florida Medicaid program, later completed under Governor Scott.
