About Access Aspiration
The Mayor’s Fund for London is a social mobility charity. We empower young Londoners from disadvantaged backgrounds to acquire the skills and opportunities they need to secure employment, climb the career ladder and escape the threat of poverty. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, is our patron. We help children and young people play a greater part in the future of London and our charitable activities focus on wellbeing, skills, employment and enterprise. In 2016, we supported 31,574 young Londoners across London, working in partnership with 325 schools, 220 employers and 78 charities, social enterprises, and local authorities.Access Aspiration is a programme that works to support students aged 16-18 who face significant disadvantage with skills and networks to support new routes into work and University. We particularly focus on students who do not have the connections or confidence to set up their own work placements, and schools where a high proportion of students receive the pupil premium. We aim to give as many students as possible the chance to gain worthwhile work experience which they can use on their CVs and/or UCAS application forms, and which may help them to decide on the most appropriate career path. 1,529 students signed up the Access Aspiration programme this academic year. We are currently linked with over 100 London employers and over 300 professional volunteers.
