My role was critical in this start up business. I was responsible for all compliance matters to ensure the business satisfied the relevant financial services regulations governing financial service providers. I held the position as the AFSL license holder for ConGen Insurance so was personally vetted by the ASIC as the responsible person within the organisation to hold a financial services license. Upon completion of the compliance requirements I was also accountable for negotiating and establishing all of the contractual terms of doing business (TOBA) with the numerous insurers in Australia’s General Insurance market. A major accountability was establishing a solid core book of clients to ensure the financial viability of the business.

I was accountable for managing a small team of Account Executives and a significant portfolio of large commercial clients with responsibilities including policy review and placement, claims management and day to day client relationship management. In addition to managing my team and assisting with any complex clients or technical issues, I also worked with each individual to establish their ongoing performance management plans and KPI’s. Wherever necessary I would provide mentoring and guidance to ensure the successful performance within their roles. Additionally, I was also accountable for the overall growth of the portfolio so I was responsible for maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and building of new relationships with potential clients. A key success in my role was achieving exceptional retention and organic growth from the existing client base to a very significant growth with respect to new clients. Actual numbers were approximately 18% growth in income from new clients and approximately 7% growth in income from existing clients. Overall myself and the team achieved outstanding results. My main reason for leaving this role was to pursue my next role with the new challenges of building a business from the ground up.
