Temporary role in a new interim structure within the Communities and Partnerships Team. Delivering the Cheshire East Migrant Project - with a focus on education, training and increasing opportunities for employment for Eastern European community living and working in Cheshire East. Managed 4 FT and 1 PT bilingual workers. Voluntary role as President of the ABCUL Board. Achievements during my term of office included: -- Instigating changes which allowed the Board to develop and improve, both as individuals and as a body- Improvements in the model of governance- Negotiating the implications of establishing a separate trading arm - Moderating key breakout sessions at WOCCU Gdansk and Ottawa- Bringing an awareness of ABCUL and the wider credit union movement to a new global sector

Delivering the 'Invest to Save Budget: Changing Community in Crewe' Project which provided multi-agency support to economic migrants and their families living and working in Crewe. The Project was reported as an example of good practice by IDeA, and contributed to high level consultation. In July 2009 the Project developed and delivered a successful major conference for the North West - the first to be held around Migration issues - commissioned by North West Together We Can. Also invited to participate in a British Social Housing Foundation consultation event in June 2008 which led to the report Home from Home: Addressing the issue of Migrant Workers' Housing. Show less
