PCSD 370 - online instructor of Aural Rehabilitation. This course introduces students to the theories and procedures used to provide aural re (habilitation) to individuals with hearing loss across the lifespan. Interventions aimed at minimizing the communication difficulties associated with hearing, cultural issues, early identification, early intervention, amplification options, and educational/vocational placements are discussed. Students will learn how treatment approaches are tailored to the needs of individuals and their families.

Create programs of speech/language interventions for families of young children with communication disorders to improve speech/language and socio-emotional development through transformational play and interaction during daily home routines for over 50 families in the past year. Created an educational presentation for dissemination to pediatricians to drive increased referrals and program growth. Developed and lead educational trainings via tele-platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams) and in-person when safe/appropriate to drive efficacy of the program. Partner with the clinical manager in team leadership roles (creating and directing educational events/presentations; organizing information to drive strategy for team growth through managing logistics for staffing, education, employee/patient engagement, and pediatrician referrals). Partnered with clinical manager to increase team by 107% in one year. Responsible for analyzing report data for communication to compliance to physicians as the primary stakeholders for these programs. Manage insurance and medical paperwork with conflicting deadlines. Responsible for preparing new clinicians for independence in the field of speech pathology and reporting their performance and growth to stakeholders at the national certifying organization. Developed digital system for management of material distribution across multiple locations to increase operational efficiency to ensure consistent coverage for all clients focused on driving stakeholder (physician) satisfaction.

Partner with project manager to analyze data sets of construction schedules for consistency, delays, issues on 5+ $500,000 to $15 million projects. Organize information into concise documents with a variety of project management software (excel, Kidasa, adobe). Critically transform collected information to determine cause of delays/issues. Research cost trends for equipment to drive budget creation. Identified need for and implemented sustainable business operations.

Developed in-home play-based programming to improve speech/language outcomes by building relationships with families and young children through communication and play. Transformed parental habits into strategies for increasing their children’s speech/language and socio-emotional wellbeing through play using communication strategies. Drove increased referrals to myself and my company from pediatricians and service coordinators based on high job performance. Managed programs for over 300 families creating goals and implementing strategies to meet goals. Managed insurance and other medical paperwork with multiple deadlines. Educated parents and caregivers using adult learning techniques to enhance family dynamics through play-based development of wellbeing and communication. Responsible for training graduate students in their final externship resulting in successful employment as play-based speech language pathologists.Volunteer Role during this employment period – Developed and executed Singing and Signing curriculum – play based program for families of young children at local children’s museum. Collaborated with executive board to ensure alignment of organizational goals. Though my full-time employment prevented me from continuing the program, many families requested that the program return for months after its completion; executive board invited me back several times.

Provided speech-language evaluations and therapy for public school students ages preschool through sixth grade. Areas addressed include: articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, and pragmatics. In addition to providing services according to IEPs, I served as case manager for students identified as Speech Impaired and provide intervention to younger students who have not yet qualified for special education services.

As a CF, 40% of my time was in the inpatient rehabilitation department and 60% of my time was in the Level I trauma acute care department. My patient caseload consisted of patients aged sixteen to ninety-seven with a wide variety of diagnoses, including heart and pulmonary issues, neurological disorders, strokes, surgery, trauma, and more. I gained experience with following procedures: bedside swallow evaluations, Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (as a privileged endoscopist), Modified Barium Swallow studies, and Passy Muir Valve evaluations. I also gained experience with a variety of cognitive, speech, and linguistic assessments. I provided therapy in the following areas: dysphagia, cognition, language, and communication/voice (Augmentative Alternative Communication and Electrolarynges).(I obtained my CCCs in 2012.)Since January 2012, I've been in the acute care department full time, filling in for inpatient rehab from occasionally.

Four days a week, I work alongside an ASHA certified speech language pathologist in the adult acute care setting. In the course of a day, we might complete any of the following: diagnostics - Bedside Swallow Evals, MBS, FEES, cognitive evals, PMV evals; therapeutic - swallow, voice, cognitive, language. I have also started passing the scope to complete FEES. Once a week, I work alongside another ASHA certified speech language pathologist in the pediatric inpatient setting. This work focuses on MBSs, feeding therapy, and oral motor therapy.

Aural rehabilitation, early intervention, and oral deaf education in therapy and private school small classroom settings with children from the ages of 18 months to 8 years old. The EI work included parent sessions.

Partnered with field sales teams to drive implementation of new program providing educational programs for professionals in the hearing care industry to raise awareness about implantable hearing solutions as one of the first outreach specialists in the field. Provided oral deaf education (evaluation and service) and aural rehabilitation on an itinerant basis for a mostly 3yo to Kindergarten caseload. I formed professional partnerships with general education teachers, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, etc. I also provided parent sessions for younger students. I served as case manager for the majority of my caseload. Specialities included the Auditory Learning Guide, Bloom & Lahey's language charts, and IEPs.
