Alberto Chacon was admitted to SJSU as an engineer but found a better fit in finance. He found an interest in financial literacy. After switching majors, he joined the Latino Business Student Association and served as VP of Finance for a year. Chacon learned budgeting, teamwork, communication, and negotiation skills in this role. This role later prepared him for his new job in the student union of SJSU.Chacon now works part-time as a Student Success Leader in the Chicanx/Latinx Student Success Center. His main responsibilities include providing resources to students, adding media content to weekly newsletters, moderating/ coordinating student panels, and building community within the center. His job helps students find the right resources to succeed. Chacon is a third-year finance student projected to graduate in the fall of 2026 and wants to pursue a job in investment banking.
