Achenyo Idachaba-Obaro is an eco-innovator and biophilic designer, who has been transforming invasive aquatic weeds and agricultural residues into sustainable textiles and decorative home accessories for over 12 years. She is the founder and creative director of MitiMeth, an award-winning social enterprise that is part of the Meaningful Business network, a global community of leaders who are combining profit and purpose to help achieve the United Nations Global Goals.She is also an associate lecturer at the University of Ibadan, where she teaches entrepreneurship skills and contributes to the textbook on the subject. She is passionate about empowering communities through sustainable solutions and working with designers to push natural fibers into the mainstream. She has trained over 600 women from Nigeria and Ghana to make eco-friendly products from these materials, creating wealth from waste and tackling environmental and social challenges. She is a public speaker, a changemaker, and a problem solver, who has been featured on BBC, Deutsche Welle TV, CNBC Africa, and CNN's African Start-Up. Her TED Talk has 1.9 million views and her work has been recognized by the 2013 Local Raw Materials Content Award and the 2014 Cartier Women's Initiative Awards Laureate for Sub-Saharan Africa.
