Profile bio

About Andrew Childress

As a former U.S. Marine Rocket/High-Explosives expert, I believe that Honesty, Strong Character/Ethics, and Solid Teamwork are the building blocks of greatness. I believe that Leadership is Service, not a Perk that comes with increased pay. And I believe that Leading is done from the Front and that, done well, leads to strong trust from the bottom of the organization to the top. I have a passion for working with people who seek to better themselves. In the Marines, our superiors would often tell us to "pick that person's brain," and "put it in your toolbox," meaning: Find out what that person knows and commit it to memory so you can use it later. Simple enough, but this idea has led me to great experience. As a mechanical technician surrounded by physicists and engineers at Fermilab, I have had the pleasure of absorbing a great deal of useful knowledge over the past 6 years. This has allowed me to succeed at a wide range of responsibilities that I have undertaken during my time here. From building two brand new Neutrino Detectors (Now running and collecting Data!), to building the supporting Cryogenic systems, to supporting Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber R&D by operating multiple experimental Cryostats, to now conducting R&D on SRF Cavities and building Brand new State of the Art Accelerator Modules to Power the WORLDS MOST POWERFUL LINEAR ACCELERATOR EVER BUILT!
