Experience included:• Investigating the tribological performance of a tolerance ring with a focus on wear characteristics through prototyping, endurance testing, and precise measurement.• Developing a new method for wear volume measurement using a roundness tester to precisely scan the radius and a python script to generate a point cloud.• Managing a large project, including supervision of a placement student while testing abroad and negotiating with colleagues for machine availability.

Experience included:• Developing test set-ups, designing their fixturing in CAD software and producing dimensioned and toleranced technical drawings for external manufacture.• Using FEA to explore the behaviour of novel compliant structures for a new concept, through which I developed a working prototype which exhibited auxetic behaviour. • Supporting the team with a range of regular component testing, including compression, friction, hardness and vibration testing.• Prototyping visual material defect detection and energy monitoring systems using a Raspberry Pi.• Programming a computer-vision algorithm for measuring and visualising small oscillations for noise and vibration testing using an iPhone camera.
