Hi there!Let me introduce myself!While I worked primarily in the Java ecosystem professionally, I was always fascinated and interested in what other languages and paradigms had to offer, incorporating the learned patterns and techniques into my daily job.One time, towards the start of my career, while being a typical backend engineer, I was assigned to develop a frontend for a web application whose backend I was building. At the time, the company was using Backbone.js for its frontends, and with me not having any experience in this I just went with it and started developing my first SPA.This was accidentally one of the most significant tipping points in my development as a software engineer, thanks to the only hard dependency of Backbone.js, the Underscore.js.The concepts used by that library were the rabbit that took me on a wonderful journey that I'm still on. Everything started with just some maps, filters, and reduces. Soon enough, I encountered a presentation called "Hey Underscore, You're Doing It Wrong!" by Brian Lonsdorf. There, he presented the fascinating world of data-last functions in combination with currying and the point-free style of writing code. This evolved into me watching the course "Functional Programming Fundamentals" by Dr. Erik Meijer on C9 Lectures, reading the "Category Theory for Programmers" by Dr. Bartosz Milewski together with "A Book of Abstract Algebra" by Dr. Charles C. Pinter, and finally discovering the Scala programming language and its ecosystems.That was my first project at my first company 8 years ago. While I wasn't converted to a frontend engineer, I brought everything I learned and am still learning about Functional Programming to the backend by borrowing parts of the Scala Standard Library using the Vavr Java library and creating structures that behave in a lawful and predictable manner.I saw the beauty in the marriage of the Functional with the Object-Oriented paradigms that Scala provides and understood the maturity levels of Functional Programming and where each is appropriate.This way, I was able to introduce to the rest of the company just enough, so while we continued using Java with Spring, the code was much safer and more predictable, with fewer bugs.Now, I'm at the point where I'd love to apply in Scala's Purely Functional setting everything I learned all those years, and continue this fascinating journey.So!If you just want to connect; welcome!If you think that I'm someone your team could benefit from; let's talk!
