Nelson, in 2012 with a relaunch as Black Maple coming soon. Black Maple is an innovative platform that explores and celebrates the uniqueness of Black Canada in academia, art, beauty, clothing, culture, film, food, health, personal care, and more.

Slavery North is an academic unit studying Transatlantic Slavery in northern regions, with a specific focus on Canadian Slavery and slavery in the American North. Director: Dr. Charmaine A. Nelson.

This project followed the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s outreach mandate in supporting teachers by ‘bringing the collection to the classroom’ Especially, due to the gallery closure because of the COVID 19, this form of outreach is crucial to stay connect with students who no longer have access to class tours to the gallery.
