About Alessandro Ciniello

Hello and Welcome to my profile! My name is Alessandro Ciniello, and I've completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering specializing in the avionics stream from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) (previously known as Ryerson University). I’m currently also pursuing a Robotic and Embedded Systems Certificate at the TMU-Chang school program, scheduled to be completed at the end of this academic year. I’ve been a part of the Metrocketry (previously known as Ryerson Rocketry) Club for 6 years and currently their Avionics advisor. I’ve also been a research assistant for 4 years at the Mixed-reality Immersive Motion Simulation (MIMS) lab where I’ve participated in a variety of research and development projects during my tenure there.Being a part of these multidisciplinary groups allowed me to understand how an engineering team functions and communicates, and how to present quickly and clearly. It allowed me as well to further extend my knowledge on the design process of industrial products. The leadership role at Metrocketry taught me how to delegate the appropriate work effectively taking into consideration people’s ability, topics of interest as well as time constraints.I’ve also been apart of my school’s robotics team where I gained experience in PID tuning and some python OpenCV work with a raspberry pi 3. Through the time with my school’s rocketry team I was able to learn how to solder/desolder, create custom firmware using C/C++ and integrate hardware such as microcontrollers and sensors; specifically using RFD900’s (telemetry), accelerometers, microSD card datalogging, barometers, voltage regulators, and GPS. As well as, designing the rocketry teams PCB from 2020-2023 via kiCAD. In the MIMS lab, I was apart of the UAV project where I had to use Ardupilot with FrSky Taranis radios to control the UAV, make a 2 DOF live streaming camera using two servos with gear ratios and a raspberry pi camera with python’s image-zmq library. The camera feed was streamed to a ground-station computer where the servo angle was controlled wirelessly via ground-station keyboard inputs. My dream job is a place where you have fun at work while doing the things you love to do, a place where there’s comradery in the workplace, where everyone works together as a team to make something revolutionary and grow together as a whole.
