Expertise in project management, ethics, communication, and policy advocacy for science and technology with a special focus on artificial intelligence, autonomous weapons systems, climate change, nuclear weapons, and catastrophic/existential risks. Clients include the Future of Life Institute, AAAI, IEEE-SA, ALLFED, MIT, and the Institute for Defense Analysis.

I organized and led a group of international experts through the development of a framework that defines the lifecycle stages of autonomous weapons systems and how we can ensure that humans remain responsible and accountable throughout the entirety of the lifecycle.

Global Shield is the world’s first international advocacy organization devoted to reducing all-hazards global catastrophic risk (GCR). We work with governments worldwide to enact policies to better understand, prevent, prepare for, and respond to global catastrophes, regardless of the threat that may produce them. We believe an all-hazards policy approach to addressing GCR can ensure governments are effectively shielding all of us from global catastrophes.

This project continues research I started while working with Virginia Tech. I'm continuing to look at correlations between wastewater disposal wells and induced seismicity, and I'm continuing to build up the VTSO website, adding automated features to make data more accessible to all users.

I specialize in online marketing, but I have experience in all types of marketing, advertising and writing.

I work primarily with the Idaho National Laboratory, highlighting research by various scientists and helping to write/edit brochures, infographics, web content, fact sheets, video scripts, PowerPoint slides, news articles, etc. I'm also assisting with a rebranding effort for Energy and Environmental Science and Technology directorate of INL.

I worked with EarthScope TA data to determine the extent to which a correlation exists between waste water disposal and earthquakes. I then used that data as a basis for building a new website for the Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory (http://www.magma.geos.vt.edu/vtso/induced_quakes.html). This work was funded by the National Energy Technology Laboratory.I also worked with the Department of Geosciences to establish a series of newsletters (http://www.geos.vt.edu/news/newsletter/) and a magazine.
