Space And Defense, Actuator Design, Mechanical Engineer Co-Op
Moog Flo-Tork
• Worked with hydraulic actuators for use in United States Navy submarines and industrial applications •Functioned as a Jr. technical lead on a project. I was responsible for specification review, overseeing all lubrication and hydraulic fluid aspects of the project, assisted with rack and pinion design, and checked the teams calculations. •Managed open-ended projects. This includes solving a problem with our oil filtration and particle analysis process. The new process saves Moog $14K annually. • Prepared our site for an ISO9001 audit. I did this by writing procedures and work instructions, planned a training schedule, and spent 50 hours training the entire engineering department on the new documentation.•Created chemical drawings to ensure that purchased materials were on our qualified materials lists•Performed stress and loading analysis on actuator designs used in our naval submarines.•GD&T, this included creating drawings, templates, and completing drawing revisions.•Worked on a team with engineers, program managers, procurement, and sales. •Participated in multiple LEAN events. I documented processes and helped to identify more efficient methods for completing tasks. Lead to a machine operation being reduced from 69 minutes per cycle to 24 min per cycle. •Created standard work procedures, work instructions, and process maps. •On-boarded our new engineers and created documentation and diagrams to explain the operation of our rotary and linear actuators•Went off site to a clients plant to help diagnose and fix issues with an actuator
