Hi, I’m Andy. I’m drawn to the fuzzy front end of problems, the satisfaction of measurably improving outcomes, and the power of cross-functional teams. For more than 20 years, I’ve studied, practiced, and taught ways to use empathy, experimentation, and collaboration to solve complex problems. While the majority of my career has been in healthcare, I’ve also worked in automotive, banking, education, food production, manufacturing, public safety, and startups.I dig deep into the problems I’m solving using my two social science degrees (BA Psychology, BS Family Studies). My Master’s in Design Thinking helps me turn those observations into actionable insights and prototype new solutions. When coaching teams of non-designers in Design Thinking, I’m thankful for my background in psychology which equips me to make abstract concepts accessible through metaphor, visualization, and examples.QUALITIES• FUN: sent a team of executives on a hotdog safari in Chicago.• COMPASSIONATE: increased volunteer and client volume at a play therapy center by redesigning a storefront pro bono.• COLLABORATIVE: experience collaborating remotely and in person, recognizing that the real expertise lies within our workshop participants.• RESOURCEFUL: prototyped a new dating app by empowering a group of women to experiment with their Tinder accounts. One of those new couples is getting married in 2022!• EFFECTIVE: measurably improved the patient experience at 27 nonprofit hospitals.• VALUABLE: eliminated the need for onsite technical support by redesigning an analytics product, doubling the ROI of each sale.• SCRAPPY: built a tiny home in a van to travel the country consulting with social service organizations.• TECH-SAVVY: coached design teams on how to bring elements of Agile into their workflow.• MISSION-DRIVEN: I believe we already have the tools and resources to protect kids from homelessness and suicide.
