A better understanding of the molecular mechanisms governing vascular ingression in the neural tube has important clinical ramifications as many… Show more Research into the anatomical and molecular characterisation of vascular ingression in the embryonic vertebrate brain, focussing on providing a detailed anatomical description of how endothelial cells enter the brain, the role of matrix metalloproteinases in the ingression process and the influence of the neural tube on endothelial cell ingression. A better understanding of the molecular mechanisms governing vascular ingression in the neural tube has important clinical ramifications as many diseases, including cancer and stroke, are associated with the biology of CNS blood vessels.Training in various laboratory techniques including ISH, IHC, histology, gel electrophoresis, microbiology, molecular cloning, RT-PCR, electroporation and microscopy, acquiring an excellent eye for detail and exceptional manual dexterity skills.
