With a team of dedicated volunteers, I make certain that the camp's yearly activities are organized, financed and that volunteers and beneficiaries are selected. I also work closely with Richard Fahey and his team of La fondation Georges O'Donoughue, present owner of the camp grounds; Camp Brébeuf in Duhamel, Québec.The kids are my foremost preoccupation, then come the counselors (all of whom are volunteers). I participate, from a distance, in the animation of the many activities that camp has to offer. Most often, I’ll take a step back and «feel» that everything is running smoothly. I’ll try to be very alert on the camp's emotional state. Are the children’s tired, bored, hungry, too cold, too warm? Is someone feeling alone, is someone a bit blue? I’ll try to attend to the emotional problems a child may have. He’ll miss his mom or dad, he’s scared of the woods, the dark, something deeper. I try to become an older brother to them all.Making sure everybody is happy, well fed, having fun is my preoccupation. Once this is achieved, the counselors take care of the rest. We give ourselves for others…. And in return, received so much more that we could give.It is all so difficult to describe….
