Defined Berklee’s systems hosting strategy, operational standards, and enterprise server/storage roadmap.Deployed the OneLogin single sign-on (SSO) platform for 60,000 users and 20 applications.Opened tier 3 data center facility, connected to Berklee by diverse dark fiber, and supporting over 100 systems.Expanded Berklee’s virtual server capacity from 5% to 60% of the server farm.Reduced backup windows by 80% by retiring LTO tape, and moving entirely to disk-based storage.

Managed $4M annual operational budget and $750K capital budget for the IT Operations department. Pioneered the project evaluation approach, which defined scope, risk, and effort for each project within the portfolio.Defined efficient operational practices for the systems team including change management, configuration management, operational change tracking, and a dedicated online documentation site.Developed comprehensive IT Operations professional development plan.

Successfully completed the University’s 1,200sqft data center construction project and the migration of 200 servers. Fully migrated 600+ faculty and staff phones from legacy Centrex to Voice Over IP service, saving $180,000/year. Led project team to migrate from hardware-based servers to virtualized servers running on an iSCSI-based SAN.Engineered and deployed highly-available network services (firewall, IPS, and core router).Certified Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) project manager for projects up to $1M.Conducted yearly disaster recovery planning for the Information Technology Center. Completed advanced switching upgrade of campus network and implemented Gigabit and PoE to the network edge. Managed University data center systems, including Linux, Windows Server 2003/2008, HP-UX, and Solaris 9/10.. Supervised implementation and maintenance of core LAN routing, firewall, VoIP, Packetshaping, Intrusion Prevention (IPS) and Intrusion Detection (IDS) technologies.

Implemented Open Source Linux solutions for firewall, file server, monitoring, and DHCP projects. Managed 6 sites with 5,000 users and 1,200 Win2000/WinXP workstations with Active Directory, coordinating shared resources and database applications.
