In my role at Walmart I worked In OPD for the summers of 2022, 2023, and 2024. OPD is the online pick up and delivery department. In my earlier years of OPD I was mostly dispensing and staging. In my last summer I was strictly picking and helping around in areas when needed. At Walmart I learned how to stage, pick, dispense, and help around the store. I also dealt with customers daily doing things such as helping them find products, answering questions about products, or simply just giving a hand grabbing something. Staging is getting all of the totes sorted into the same order, picking is going around getting all the products for the customers, and dispensing is bringing the order out to the customer or delivery driver. Learning all aspects of the job was helpful because I was able to be plugged into any situation and problem and was able to do something. Everyday at work I pushed to get a high product pick count and be on the podium which I have achieved many times. Notable skills I got from my experience at Walmart are customer service, time management, technology usage, working in a high stress environment, memorizing where products are, and working as a team. My experience at Walmart has taught me a lot how a modern day supermarket is ran. In my role at Baskin Robbins I was a Crew Member. In my time as being a Crew Member I worked with customers everyday. I learned how to scoop the ice cream, make the cones, make all the drinks and sundaes, and make all the promotional products. I also learned how to run the cash register and close down the store and count up the till and tips. Other things I had to do as being a crew member was wiping down the ice cream cases, mopping and wiping down the lobby, behind the counter, as well as the bathrooms and stairs. I also cleaned the dishes and retrieved ice cream from the basement and sent it up an elevator, as well as properly filling out cake order forms. I enjoyed my time at Baskin Robbins and learned a lot. It was a valuable work and customer service experience before I headed off to college for my freshman year.
