I have been researching how malware variability (different behavior on different malware executions) affects malware detector performance.Using a proprietary database that contained multiple malware execution traces, I have devised experiments to quantify the loss of detector performance resulting from malware variability.I also had to build the detector which would be used during the experiments: I built a machine learning model based on LSTM that was able to classify execution traces into benign and malicious.
