Intermodal Freight Conductor

As a Freight Conductor I am responsible for the safe operation of freight trains and the transportation of cargo. The specific responsibilities of a Freight Conductor include:▪ Applying the Canadian Railroading Operating Rules (CROR) and Canadian Pacific Railway General Operating Instructions (GOI)▪ Ensuring compliance with all train orders, signals and regulations for safety▪ Properly documenting and safely handling bulk dangerous commodities▪ Reading and understanding bulletins, work orders, and switch lists▪ Reviewing instructions from dispatchers and yardmasters▪ Inspecting equipment on railcars and locomotives prior to departures▪ Receiving and transmitting information by radio to other freight crews and Rail Traffic Controllers▪ Coupling and uncoupling cars, operating switches, and making minor repairs to railcars, including replacing heavy couplings or air brake hoses.▪ Placing cars to facilitate loading and unloading and the makeup and breakdown of trains in a rail yard, industrial plant, or similar location.
