Typical cases involve theft, sex offenses, trademark counterfeiting, simple and/or aggravated assault, gun offenses, robbery, domestic violence cases, drugs and narcotics (both felonies and misdemeanors). Between 2003 and 2011, I had primarily been representing clients in the East of the River Community Court. This court was implemented in September 2002 and I began accepting appointments in this court in January 2003. The primary function of this court is to hear all U.S. cases not involving domestic violence that occur in sixth and seventh districts of Washington, D.C. Since I began working in Community Court, I became more familiar with the numerous social programs offered by the D.C. Pretrial Services and non-profit organizations in the community. I work collaboratively with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the D.C. Pretrial Services to address the quality of life issues of the D.C. residents in the sixth and seventh districts through creative solutions for non-violent offenders. e.g. education, prevention, drug treatment, vocational training, community service, restitution payments to victims, mediation, etc. Since 2011, I have been handling all kinds criminal matters from misdemeanors to felonies and traffic matters.
