Ada is an entrepreneur, investor and a deal-maker. She owned companies, climbed the Corporate ladder, and now enjoys consulting businesses. Mother of one son and “oma” (grandma) to Kai. She loves nature, is above all creative and an “out of the box” thinker.She is proud of her different careers, of which her 5 year involvement in the development of VERTIKAAL is the most recent one. VERTIKAAL, innovative software for “Smart Urban Development” is the brain child of Robert Mechielsen. VERTIKAAL proprietary software quickly configures new designs for mid- and high-rise buildings, simultaneously estimating the cost.She was part of the Commercial Real Estate Industry in Southern California. She joined the Commercial Division of Transcon Property Services, and became its Senior V.P. responsible for all operations in three States.From 1994-2010 Ada owned and operated the Tex Drive In in Honoka’a, built a second “Tex” in Pahala, and fulfilled her dream of creating a destination center on the Hamakua Coast of the Island. The eye catching 30ft high green house served as a Visitor Center and her Mohala Pua Garden Center. Supported by tropical plants and trees, it became the place to stop.The local people liked the “Tex” Malasadas, a Hawaiian delicacy, which under Ada’s management became a must for Visitors of the Island. Culinary magazine Saveur even made “Tex” Malasadas one of the best seven donut-like products in the country.In 1994 she inspired the local population to believe that there would be a future after the last harvest of sugarcane. She volunteered her time and skills where needed, and served on Hawaiian Boards of Directors. Lacking a local newspaper, she published her own.Confronted with the Hawaii Government’s plans to use all fallow sugarcane land for pulp trees, she and others formed the opposition by creating the “Friends of Hamakua”. The group succeeded to halt all activity, funded by Prudential Insurance and Oji-Marubini, which made the land available for other purposes. A first win by the people in the history of Hawaii.In Las Vegas she started Ada’s Malasadas under a cottage license. When business outgrew home production she worked to secure a commercial kitchen, that met all Governmental requirements. Just as things looked up, the pandemic came along and production ceased.Her first career was in The Netherlands at N.V. Phonogram (Polygram Group). It is where she learned the intricacies of the recording studio and production of music/records. She became one of the first women in music production in Holland.
